Level 1 Diploma in Engineering Technologies
The course has been developed with industry experts to allow an introduction to all engineering technologies. It will allow students to become familiar with all aspects of engineering and then will allow them to specialise following this year.
Completing this course will allow progression onto a Level 2 course specialising in their chosen area, either Welding and Fabrication, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.

1. Introduction to Working in Engineering
2. Introduction to Machining Engineering Materials
3. Introduction to Cutting, Forming and Assembling Engineering Materials
4. Introduction to Jointing Engineering Materials
5. Introduction to Electronics
6. Introduction to Electrical Installation
7. Introduction to Computer Aided Drawing (CAD)
8. Introduction to Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing)
9. Introduction to Metal Inert Gas Welding (MIG/MAG)

Entry Requirements
At least three GCSEs at Grade 3 or above in a good range of subjects including GCSE English, Mathematics, and Science.
Modules
You will learn about many areas of Engineering including the Manufacturing elements of both Mechanical and Electrical disciplines, the safety factors which govern these, and the development of products including experience with Computer Aided Design. You will also be studying and working towards a Grade 4 in both Maths and English (if not already achieved).
This course will prepare you for progression to a Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Technologies specialising in either Mechanical Engineering, Welding and Fabrication, or Electrical & Electronics, or alternatively an Apprenticeship.
