We're looking for a skilled Fleet Technician with an exacting eye for detail to really take ownership of the presentation of our Managed Contract client assets (Vehicles and Trailers). The ideal candidate will be responsible for the general upkeep of the fleet: repairing, monitoring and maintaining with a hands-on approach. This role requires a practically minded, general maintenance/technical skill set, and a keen eye for detail. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment to ensure the assets are in their best condition and ready for use at any time is essential. Managed contract vehicles range from 3.5T vehicles to artic expanding trailers. The remit of this role is NOT transport and legislative servicing and maintenance, rather the internal and external visual presentation requirements required due to regular use, defect and damages. They will work closely with the Managed Contract Team Manager, Production Manager and Group Fleet Engineer carrying out works as per the needs of the business; on occasion outside of usual working hours. Perform routine inspections, and repairs on managed contracts vehicles and trailers ensuring defects are promptly addressed, to include all aspects of visual presentation, working parts and mechanical repair ( to exclude legal and legislative works, to be carried out by workshop team). Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues with trailers and ensure timely repairs to minimize downtime. Coordinate with managed contracts manager to schedule maintenance and prepare units for their next events. If required outside of “normal” working hours. Ensure all H&S related defects resolved prior to next use of asset. Maintain detailed records for all works carried out and ensure cost capture and quoting processes are followed. Manage inventory of parts, tools, and equipment required for unit maintenance and repair to include stock taking and ordering of core consumables. Working with production manager to collaborate with external vendors and service providers for more specialised repairs or services. To manage Versatile’ s generator stock including regular up keep and maintenance. Qualifications Experience of general maintenance to include general upkeep and replacement of key parts as required, or a related role in fleet maintenance. Strong knowledge of trailer systems preferred but training can be given, including basic electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (CDL preferred). Class 2 preferred not essential. Welding and general fabrication skills preferred not essential.
