SSEN Transmission is experiencing significant growth driven by the need to connect considerable volumes of renewable generation onto our network to facilitate the pathway to Net Zero. Our regulation team is crucial in developing and delivering transmission infrastructure in the North of Scotland.
As a Senior Analyst in the Regulation Team, you will help the wider SSEN Transmission business understand the opportunities and barriers to delivering projects, new services, and consumer outcomes by translating existing policies and regulations and identifying upcoming reforms. You will be working closely with senior stakeholders across the business to achieve these outcomes and goals.

This means you will need a good understanding of UK energy system policy, network regulations, and the wider net zero environment.
Our Senior Analysts work across a range of policy areas including, price controls, industry reform and wider net zero policy. You will lead on developing and responding to consultations and industry working groups. You will support senior colleagues in the development and implementation of broader work packages, including the ASTI framework submissions and the enduring regulatory price controls.
The key duties & responsibilities will be:
-Securing Investment: Obtain necessary funding from Ofgem under the ASTI framework and broader Price Control Frameworks to achieve our strategic goals.
- Policy Development: Co-ordination and creation of regulatory policies through research and analysis, advocating for our strategic objectives.
- Project Management: Manage and coordinate regulatory projects to ensure timely and successful outcomes, providing support across the business and the SSE Group.
- Stakeholder Relationships: Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, especially Ofgem, by engaging regularly, responding to industry consultations, and representing SSEN Transmission at industry forums.

Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify problems, determine causes, propose solutions, and implement them using logical and analytical reasoning.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication and writing skills to articulate complex issues clearly and accurately.
- Utility Regulation Experience: Experience in utility regulation, ideally with a degree in Economics, Business, Science, Engineering, or Law.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of the GB energy regulatory framework, the energy sector, key stakeholders, and the policy landscape, including political and policy impacts on regulated companies.
