We are looking for a Data Analyst to work in Senedd Research. This is an excellent opportunity to help us make our research outputs more engaging and accessible by further developing our use of data visualisation. The role involves understanding statistical and numerical information and the ability to translate complex subjects into innovative visual formats such as infographics and maps.
Senedd Research provides independent, impartial, specialist parliamentary research to all Members of the Senedd to ensure they are able to support their constituents and participate in Senedd business. It is a fast-paced environment which provides opportunities to work on a range of policy areas with a high political and policy profile.
As part of the Library and Digital team you will be working closely with colleagues who are specialists in data analysis, data science, mapping, publishing, systems, information management and library services. The role supports Senedd Research and the Senedd Commission by exploring and visualising data in a meaningful way to a range of technical and non-technical audiences, with Members being the primary audience. The Research teams support each other and you will also work with the Financial Scrutiny Unit, giving you the opportunity to work with finance and statistics specialists.
You will also be supporting other Commission services including committee teams and communications by providing re-usable, engaging visual content and technical expertise e.g. creating new content for the website which displays complex information in easy to understand ways.
The role will enable us to meet increased demand for data visualisations, which are being used more frequently for a variety of outputs including committee briefings, web pages, research articles, static infographics, interactive tools for the website, animations, dashboards and maps. This role will also help investigate how developments in assistive technology can safely enhance our processes and services.
You will need experience in data analysis, data visualisation and ideally data science methods. You will need to be able to demonstrate practical knowledge of data analysis and data visualisation techniques. You will have the ability to support and develop others with varying needs and to communicate technical outputs to a range of stakeholders, adapting content appropriately.
The role provides opportunities for external engagement and collaborative working with other legislatures, institutions and stakeholders both in the UK and internationally.
