Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in senior care in a Residential Children's Home, and will demonstrate exceptional leadership skills. This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to our young people. As Deputy Manager, you will support the overall management of the facility and contribute to the development and implementation of effective care plans.
This role is a developmental position, where the successful candidate will become a Registered Manager once the program has been completed.

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000
Annual Leave: 22 days + 8 bank holidays

Role Purpose: To lead the home’s multi-disciplinary team in the provision of care and support services for young people with emotional and challenging behaviours. Act as a role model creating a warm and supportive environment which aims to maximise the potential of young people.
Role Description
Young People
1. Provide leadership creating an emotionally secure, consistent, warm, supportive, and nurturing environment appropriate to the physical, social, cultural, and religious needs of young people.
2. Ensure that the home is run in line with Northridge Care Group Ltd policies and procedures, Children’s legislation, regulations, and good practice and meets Ofsted standards at all times.
3. Develop and implement care plans for young people that include a variety of intervention strategies with emphasis on behaviour management and the development of coping mechanisms.
4. Ensure that meetings and reviews of children are delivered within required time scales.
5. Ensure that staff deliver the support required in order to ensure that the life chance opportunities of young people are met in relation to their social, educational, leisure, emotional, physical and cultural needs.
6. Lead on the development and implementation of strategies in response to challenging behaviours ensuring these are consistently applied in the home.
7. Ensure that you lead the safeguarding culture at Northridge Care Group Ltd. Safeguard and protect the health, safety and well-being of children.
8. Be the primary point of contact in the home for representatives of other agencies including local authorities, regulators, GP and other medical professionals, therapists and social workers.
9. Ensure that the home works with families as set out in the young person’s care plan.
10. Ensure that an open culture is created, in which young people are able to express their views in a non-judgmental setting, be involved in individual and collective decision making and feel that they have choice and agency.
11. Participate in Staff and young people’s meetings as and when required.
12. Ensure that within the home staff, and young people understand, recognise, and celebrate the diversity of cultures and beliefs within the local and wider community.
Home Management
1. Take responsibility for all elements of the effective and safe operation of the home including staffing.
2. Manage and monitor all costs, staffing structures and rotas, ensuring they meet requirements young people’s needs and are in line with allocated budgets.
3. Ensure that all administration of financial, payroll and staffing related matters in the home is completed correctly and within the prescribed time scales.
4. Ensure that all staff adhere to the policies and procedures established in the organisation and the home.
5. Ensure that staff are motivated to deliver high standards of care, that they receive regular developmental supervision and have access to training and development.
6. Provide induction to new staff and in-house training to all staff in line with identified development needs.
7. Promote and actively encourage the professional development of staff.
8. Ensure that staff conduct, performance and attendance is managed effectively.
9. Ensure that the home meets its obligations to confidentiality, that records are held in a manner which is compliant with regulations and that all staff understand their obligations to confidentiality.
10. Ensure that the key worker system is well embedded in the home, understood by all staff and that its effectiveness is monitored.
11. Ensure that all staff understand their obligations to safeguarding and that the home has appropriate policies and procedures to meet these.
12. Ensure that all staff work in a way that demonstrates an understanding and commitment to the rights of young people.
13. Ensure that all staff are trained in medication delivery and understand how to respond to medical emergencies. Conduct critical incident analysis after any major incident to explore lessons learned.
14. Produce, co-ordinate and edit reports to ensure they are delivered to a high standard.
15. Develop effective working relationships with other employees within the service managing any areas of disagreement in a collaborative manner.

Experience
1. Considerable experience of working with young people in a residential setting. - E
