Business Development Manager - Building / Construction - West Midlands + Some Remote Working
LEADING TIER 1 BUILDING MAIN CONTRACTOR
COMPANY:
A reputable regional building main contractor, with a longstanding history and a strong brand in the industry. Role will be a mix of Birmingham office (near the Airport / NEC), remote work and client visits.
ROLE:
As Business Development Manager in the West Midlands, you will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities. Your primary focus will be on fostering strategic partnerships, cultivating client relationships and driving revenue growth. You will collaborate closely with our operations and marketing teams to develop and execute effective business development strategies, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
DUTIES:
1. Market analysis: carry out market research to identify trends and opportunities. Analyse competitor activities and market dynamics to inform decision making.
2. Business development strategy: work alongside the Regional Director to develop and implement business development strategies, aligned with regional business plans.
3. Lead generation: proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities through various channels including cold calling, networking events, industry conferences and digital marketing.
4. Reporting and Analysis: maintain Salesforce CRM, preparing comprehensive reports and performance metrics to track progress, measure success and identify areas for improvement, providing regular updates to the board and the regional management teams.
5. Customer reviews: manage and conduct formal customer feedback.
6. Framework relationships: maintain healthy relationships with relevant account managers for the frameworks which we are on regionally.
7. Customer relationships: maintain excellent relationships with valued existing customers, as well as opening the door to new relationships which you will track and manage.
8. Industry relationships: maintain and manage existing relationships with our consultants and influencers, as well as creating new, meaningful relationships within the industry. Take an interest in marketing opportunities to promote the company brand, helping to assemble the information required to drive campaigns and looking out for opportunities to make the brand more visible.
9. Cross functional collaboration: work closely with internal stakeholders including the operations, commercial and National and Strategic Accounts team to co-ordinate business development efforts.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Previous employment as a Business Development Manager, Business Development Executive, Business Development Coordinator, Marketing Manager or similar.
2. Previous Main Contractor / Principal contractor employment.
3. Established network within the construction industry and public sector client types.
4. Demonstrable knowledge and experience in the construction industry, including an understanding of market trends, procurement routes, market competition and client needs.
5. A strategic thinker who is able to develop actionable plans to drive business growth and expansion.
6. Proven track record of generating new business through effective prospecting, networking and negotiation skills.
7. Able to identify target customers; develop, implement, and maintain account plans.
8. Good organisation skills and work ethic.
9. Excellent spoken and written English.
10. Good, clear telephone manner is essential as there will be client interface during the course of the daily works, as well as meeting skills both online and in person.
11. A good 'team player', able to work independently and as part of a team.
12. Driving licence.
