Our client, a leading consultancy in the water sector, is currently seeking an Engineering Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. This role will take a strategic lead on Southern Water, delivering essential infrastructure solutions during the AMP8 investment programme from 2025 to 2030.
About the Role
The Engineering Manager reports to and works alongside the Head of Engineering, and will be a key member of the CMDP Design Leadership Team. You will be accountable for the delivery of engineering solutions across the AMP8 water and wastewater programme from initial definition through to detailed design and construction support. Based at CMDP's core Falmer (Brighton) design office, this role involves home working and supporting both remote and office-based design teams in Manchester. Key responsibilities include leading timely design production and providing strong resource management at the Framework level.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leading the delivery of engineering solutions across the water and wastewater programme
2. Managing design production timelines efficiently
3. Coordinating between internal teams and stakeholders for successful project delivery
4. Maintaining high standards in process safety, quality, and environmental leadership
5. Providing strong cross-discipline engineering understanding and interaction
6. Overseeing project controls including schedule, cost, risk, and change management
7. Ensuring client satisfaction through effective relationship management
8. Contributing to the development and influence of project strategies and solutions
Role Requirements:
1. Significant project engineering management experience in a multi-discipline engineering design contracting/consultancy environment
2. Experience in the Water/Wastewater Sector
3. Cross-discipline engineering understanding for engineering, procurement, and project management
4. Thorough knowledge of project delivery from work winning to project handover
5. Strong focus on process safety, quality, and environmental leadership
6. Knowledge and understanding of project controls including schedule, cost, risk, and change management
7. Collaborative, innovative, and adaptable
8. Customer-facing capabilities with proven relationship management skills
9. Degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering-related subject, preferably chartered
