Due to internal promotion, an exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic Band 5 Registered Nurses to join the friendly team on Templar Ward, Newton Abbot Hospital.
You must be committed to providing high-quality care and have a desire to work with patients during their recovery journey following an acute illness to enable them to be discharged from the hospital in a timely manner. 20 beds within the ward are dedicated to specialist stroke/neuro rehabilitation.
You will possess effective communication skills to enable you to work within the multi-disciplinary team. The post offers the opportunity for personal and professional development, and you will be supported with continuing professional development through in-house training and support.
Main duties of the job
* Provide direct nursing care to a caseload of patients during your shift, ensuring that high standards of care are maintained and provide supervision to junior staff and students on the ward.
* Work as a registered nurse within a team responsible to the team leader/shift coordinator caring for patients and their carers.
* Fully utilise the learning opportunities available. Gain an understanding of the physiological, psycho-social, spiritual, and cultural needs of the patients and their carers, and develop a broad spectrum of clinical proficiency to deliver nursing care.
* Promote a safe clinical environment for all patients, their carers, visitors, and staff.
* Comply with the Trust's values and expected behaviours.
About us
Templer Ward is a 30-bedded ward within Newton Abbot Community Hospital. We offer you the chance to work within a multi-disciplinary team to provide ongoing care to patients following an acute illness. 20 beds are dedicated to specialist stroke/neuro rehabilitation.
You will be supported to develop within your role with a continuing professional development competency profile, access to in-house and external training, as well as clinical supervision.

Qualifications and training
* Registered Nurse Adult
* Current/awaiting registration with NMC
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Previous experience working in stroke/neuro specialty
Knowledge and experience
* Experience of working in a ward environment

* Knowledge of wound care and dressings
* Health and safety awareness
