As we are a regional centre for many interventions, you would gain experience in a wide range of procedures; vascular procedures, including EVAR; neuro interventional procedures (involving complex intervention and acute thrombectomy for stroke).
There will be out of hours work and an on call rota that applicants must be willing to take part in. You must be available within 30 minutes when on call.
The normal working hours at present are Monday-Friday with a 24/7 on-call service; however, we are planning on having a 7-day service at both sites in the future.
There are three interventional radiology theatres at Hull Royal Infirmary, situated near the city centre, 1 Neuro and 2 Vascular labs. There will be a 4th room for emergency patients opening July 2025.
Main Duties of the Job
Minimum requirements are BSc or DCR(R) in Diagnostic Radiography and experience in interventional radiology.
You will be an experienced radiographer with a special clinical interest in Interventional Radiology and will assist the Section manager with the direct delivery of this service. You will undertake an operational 'hands on' clinical role and have the opportunity to train and perform advanced practice procedures. You will be responsible for resources and activity and provide specialist advice as required. You will be expected to assess, analyse and interpret complex situations including clinical, staff and operational issues. In unpredictable situations you are responsible for making decisions to ensure continued service provision, in collaboration with the Section manager and Speciality Manager.
