Position: Senior Civil Engineer
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000/annum
Location: Belfast, City of Belfast
About the Role:
My client has a unique opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer to join the Water business in their Belfast office. Within a multi-disciplinary design team, you will lead the technical aspects of water/wastewater projects including feasibility studies, outline/detailed design (calculations, drawings, specifications), planning, and procurement.

In addition to the specific Water role, there will be scope to support other projects: Buildings, Health, Leisure, etc. through providing / managing Civil Design inputs.
What You Will Do:
1. Responsible for delivery of water/wastewater projects from business planning through to design and delivery. Previous experience in a managerial, client-facing position will be an advantage.
2. Preparation of business plans, feasibility and outline/detailed design for pumping stations, pipelines, service reservoirs, water/waste treatment works.
3. Representing the business throughout the full life cycle of projects, generating design as part of multi-disciplinary teams, often spread across different office locations.
4. Procurement, including cost estimation, preparation of contract documents, drawings and specifications.
5. Construction stage project management, monitoring progress against programme, assessing costs for works completed and ensuring quality.
6. Working to meet Health and Safety and overall project quality objectives.
The Individual:
You will possess a strong technical background in the delivery of water/wastewater infrastructure, including experience working within UK or overseas Water Frameworks, Design and Build environments or Developer infrastructure projects. Previous experience of design of pumping stations, pipelines, service reservoirs, and water retaining structures will be an advantage.
Taking ownership of projects, you will plan and co-ordinate multiple discipline inputs (including health and safety, sustainability, environment, planning), finding the optimal balance of meeting technical requirements within the practical cost, time and physical constraints. You will also be responsible for managing and developing more junior engineers.
Your Experience Will Include:
1. Degree in relevant discipline.
2. Over 5 years relevant industry experience.
3. Pre and post contract project management experience including managing design teams, procurement, and managing construction phase.
4. Good planning and organising skills.
5. Strong time management skills.
6. Team working with a can-do attitude.
7. Ability to manage projects with minimal supervision and to attend meetings independently.
8. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
9. MS Office Proficient.
10. A full driving licence.
Essential Requirements:
1. Demonstrable experience of technical delivery of Water Infrastructure / Non-infrastructure projects.
2. Experience of working within multi-disciplinary design teams.
3. Proficient in client-facing roles with the ability to present technical solutions to a varied audience.
4. Creating and maintaining internal project management systems.
5. Advanced Degree in Civil Engineering.
6. Chartered / Incorporated Civil Engineer.
7. At least 8 years industry experience.
8. MS Office Proficient.
Desirable Requirements:
1. Experience in the design of pumping stations, pipelines, service reservoirs, and a knowledge of network modelling techniques.
2. Site, pipework, and drainage layouts.
3. Water retaining reinforced concrete design.
4. Experience of managing clients and other project stakeholders.
5. Leading project teams and mentoring more junior staff.
6. Experience of NEC3 suite of contracts.
7. Working knowledge of MapInfo / GIS; AutoCAD Proficient.
8. A full UK driving licence.
