AtkinsRéalis are a global Project and Programme Consultancy delivering constructive expertise on many of the most exciting and high-profile construction projects throughout the UK. Our continuing success in securing consultancy work means we are now looking to expand our team by recruiting Building Safety Consultants at varying levels. You would be based our Oxford office, however our clients are varied and widespread throughout the South of England. We would therefore consider candidates to be based in our other regional offices. We are also able to offer flexible working arrangements to all our staff.
We are looking for collaborative and motivated Senior Building Safety Consultants to deliver a high-quality service for our clients. Our Building Safety Assurance service focuses on assisting designers with the Building Regulations Principal Designer role (both in-house and to our clients) and assisting clients to comply with their duties.
Ideally an experienced Building Safety/Building Control/compliance professional capable of:
1. Advising and assisting clients and in-house teams in fulfilling their responsibilities under the Building Regulations 2010 (As Amended) and the Building Safety Act 2022.
2. Delivering the Building Regulations Principal Designer function for clients as set out in the Building Regulations 2010 (As Amended).
3. Use their skills and knowledge to work with designers to review building regulations compliance in design and to help develop practical solutions in line with legislation and best practice.
4. Undertaking a wide range of Building Safety Consultancy duties in line with agreed service deliverables.
5. Undertaking building regulation compliance audits and site inspections to ensure compliance is achieved.
6. Reviewing building regulation submission packages, undertaking gap analysis reviews, plan appraisals to identify any missing information required to secure building regulation approval.
7. Potential to deliver building regulation compliance training (internal and external).
8. Learning and applying quality assurance principles.
9. Keeping up to date and abreast of relevant legislative and best practice changes.
Other beneficial qualities include:
10. Class 2/3 Registered Building Inspector (Not essential but must be able to demonstrate competence working on a range of building types and uses).
11. Experience of PAS45001 and other integrated management systems.
To join us you’ll need:
12. Strong background interpreting and applying the building regulations and associated secondary legislation relating to projects, and a good understanding of the technical and functional requirements of the Building Regulations 2010.
13. Sound technical Building Regulations knowledge combined with an understanding of design and construction and capable of delivering a solutions-focussed service.
14. Excellent stakeholder facing skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
15. An understanding of the importance of attention to detail and accuracy in all your work.
16. A proactive attitude and a willingness to seek guidance on occasions from senior colleagues.
17. A sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other software packages.
18. A professional manner and outlook.
19. The ability to work concurrently on a portfolio of projects.
20. Relevant professional chartership/accreditation with either CABE, CIOB, RICS.
21. Experience in a similar Building Safety/ building regulations compliance/design compliance role.
22. Demonstrable understanding of construction and design.
23. Full UK Driving Licence.
