Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join us in general practice. The successful candidates will have a commitment to excellent patient care with strong communication skills and thrive being part of a team working in a fast-paced, professional but friendly environment.
The successful candidates will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of patient care co-ordination, administration, and reception duties plus the provision of general support to the wider multidisciplinary team. To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.
The posts are full time (37.5 hours per week) spread across all our opening hours with a requirement for flexibility to work additional hours to cover leave and to provide periodic additional services at evenings and weekends (e.g. vaccination clinics). Part-time hours/job share could be considered. Main Duties
1. Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system
2. Process face-to-face, telephone and e-requests for appointments
3. Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately
4. Signpost patients to the correct service, including caring for our patients who may have specific or additional needs, including but not limited to Carers and Veterans
5. Support the practice in all aspects of communication with patients, including but not limited to notice boards, social media and telephone messages
6. Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies
7. Prompt and efficient registration of new patients, ensuring the needs of our more vulnerable patients are met and that all new patients are offered information on the NHS App/online access
8. Prepare repeat prescriptions for signature
9. Scan data onto the clinical database
10. Support the practice in all new digital initiatives
11. Photocopy documentation as required
12. Input data into the patients’ healthcare records as necessary
13. Process for information i.e. SAR, insurance / solicitors’ letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team
14. Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner
15. Carry out system searches as requested
16. Assist in the call and recall of patients for vaccination, screening and chronic disease review
17. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective, safe working area at all times
18. Monitor and maintain the reception area
19. Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
About us
We are a 3 partner General Practice with 4,800 patients located in the village of Painswick. We are part of the Stroud Cotswold Primary Care Network (SCPCN) with 4 other practices which allows us to combine our efforts to work on bigger projects (e.g. the delivery of the Covid-19 vaccination programme). We also have 2 salaried GPs working with us as well as 2 Practice Nurses and a Health Care Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist, a Pharmacy Technician and Social Prescribers. We are also a training practice for qualified doctors who wish to work as GPs.
