Independent Chair - Safeguarding and Quality Assurance
Bath & North East Somerset Council is seeking an experienced Independent Chair within the Children’s Quality Assurance and Safeguarding Service, part of the Education and Safeguarding Directorate. This role offers a market supplement of £5,000 per annum, pro-rata.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and facilitate child protection conferences and reviews.
* Ensure the child's wishes, feelings, and rights are central to planning.
* Oversee multiagency work to protect children and ensure timely intervention where needed.
* Respond to allegations against trusted persons, providing guidance to agencies.
* Quality assure social work and multiagency practice to promote stability and permanence.
About You:
* Significant experience in children’s social care, including supervisory or management roles.
* Thorough understanding of legal frameworks related to children in care and child protection.
* Degree in social work or equivalent, and current registration with Social Work England.
