PURCHASING MANAGER
Avenue is currently seeking a Purchasing Manager for a well-established, rapidly growing client based in Dunfermline.
The Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will oversee the end-to-end procurement process which will include managing the sourcing, negotiation, and purchasing of materials and services. You will also be responsible for controlling inventory levels, ensuring accurate stock records, and overseeing the storage and timely availability of goods for production.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Purchasing & Commodity Buying
Source, negotiate, and purchase raw materials, parts, and services at competitive prices.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure optimal pricing, quality, and delivery schedules.
Communicate with engineering teams regarding materials for job orders.
Evaluate supplier performance and ensure continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
Track market trends to ensure proactive sourcing strategies.
2. Stores & Inventory Control
Oversee stock levels, ensuring adequate supply without overstocking or running out of critical components.
Maintain accurate inventory records, including tracking of materials from receipt through production.
Develop, implement, and optimize inventory management systems and processes.
Coordinate with production and logistics teams to ensure timely availability of goods and raw materials.
3. Vendor Management & Reporting
Monitor supplier performance in terms of quality, cost, and delivery.
Prepare and present regular reports on procurement and inventory to senior management.
Negotiate terms and contracts with suppliers.
The Candidate
Qualification in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager, Commodity Buyer, or a similar role within the manufacturing industry.
Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage supplier relationships effectively.
Excellent understanding of inventory management and procurement processes.
Proficient in ERP systems and inventory management software (Knowledge of SAGE would be desirable).
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Full Driving License as you will be required to visit suppliers.
Ability to read BOM (bill of materials).
A good understanding of health and safety.
