Carmichael UK are seeking a project QS to work across civils work at Heathrow or Stansted Airport. Reporting to the Managing Quantity Surveyor, the Project Surveyor is responsible for project budgets by managing cost and value. This role requires focus and the ability to push and achieve targets, budgets, quality and results. Whilst supported and guided by the Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will be required to make decisions in a timely and appropriate manner whilst adhering to operating procedures. This role requires a person with drive, assertiveness and the ability to effectively communicate with others. A collaborative approach and the ability to influence and persuade others are important to the success of the role. In this position you will be required to work with the team, engaging with others and have a strong commercial knowledge. Duties and Responsibilities: Management of commercial and contractual relationships with support from MQS to clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers. Maximise the profitability of contracts and achieve optimum cashflow. Review project details in conjunction with the design, buying and contract teams to assess feasibility / scope compliance and issue budgets accordingly. Presenting detailed cost and value reporting regularly to ensure the initial budget is not exceeded. Attend multi-team pre-contract meetings, and ensure timely completion of agreed actions Manage and submit accounts accurately and on time to clients including full entitlement to any ongoing variations Negotiate and agree interim / final applications, to ensure prompt payments Prepare and manage subcontract accounts from inception to final account. Visit sites regularly to measure and value work completed as well as looking for variation opportunities. Identify, highlight and manage risks whilst maintaining the relationship with the client. Monitor progress and manage expectations internally and externally. About you: An accredited course by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS, the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES).Alternatively, a degree with some numerical or technical is advantageous. Relevant HND subjects include building/construction, urban and land studies, civil engineering and structural engineering. Adequate experience as an Assistant QS/QS. A degree in QS and relevant experience obtained. Ideally will have experience within the civils/rail sector. ASAP start Rate Inside IR35 Permanent also available
