Job Purpose:
The Therapist specialising in Applied Neurofeedback therapy will deliver targeted interventions using neurofeedback technology to support patients with neurological, psychological, and developmental conditions. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating neurofeedback therapy schedules to enhance patients' cognitive, sensory, and emotional functioning.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assessment and Diagnosis:
Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify patients' therapeutic needs. Utilise standard assessment tools and neurofeedback technology to evaluate patient suitability. Develop individual therapy plans based on assessment findings, patient history, and specific therapeutic goals. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient progress, therapy sessions, and outcomes.
2. Neurofeedback Therapy Delivery:
Implement and deliver applied neurofeedback therapy sessions tailored to the needs of the patient. Monitor patient responses to sessions, adjust treatment protocols as necessary, and ensure that sessions are safe and effective. Educate patients and their families about neurofeedback therapy, its benefits, and expected outcomes.
3. Programme Development and Management:
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to integrate neurofeedback therapy into comprehensive care plans. Contribute to the development of neurofeedback therapy programmes, protocols, and best practices.
4. Research and Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated with the latest research and developments in neurofeedback and occupational therapy. Participate in research projects and continuous professional development activities. Evaluate and implement new neurofeedback technologies and methodologies to enhance service delivery.
5. Patient and Family Support:
Provide support and education to patients and families, helping them understand and engage with the neurofeedback process.
6. Multidisciplinary Team Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care for patients. Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and professional consultations.
7. Compliance and Quality Assurance:
Ensure that all therapy services are delivered in compliance with regulatory standards, ethical guidelines, and known protocols. Participate in quality assurance and clinical governance activities to maintain high standards of care.
Person Specification:
Qualifications:
Graduate or Master degree in Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Psychotherapy from an accredited institution. Current registration with the relevant association of therapists in Ireland. Certification in neurofeedback therapy (e.g. BeeMedic certification) and a willingness to obtain certification.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably with experience in neurofeedback therapy, autism spectrum or mental health settings. Experience working with children with neurological, developmental, or psychological conditions. Previous experience in a multidisciplinary team environment is advantageous.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong knowledge of neurofeedback therapy principles, techniques, and equipment. Proficiency in conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and delivering therapy interventions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and families. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess patient needs and adjust therapy approaches. Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with advancements in the field.
