Planner (Development Management) (17/)
Dumfries / Hybrid
£37, - £40,
An outstanding opportunity for an enthusiastic, career minded Planner to join our Development Management team to help deliver high quality services for our customers. If you are looking for a variety of caseload challenges including rural development, town centre regeneration and the historic environment then this could be the perfect place for your next step. These are vibrant times in the beautiful south west of Scotland with innovative projects and regeneration initiatives attracting significant investment and interest to our region. To ensure that our Development Management team plays its part in supporting sustainable growth and our rich natural and built environment, we have restructured the Service. This Planner post is one of the few remaining opportunities to join our Planning Applications team.
As a Planner you will be required to carry out a full range of work in relation to development management, including processing of planning and other applications, visiting sites, negotiating with applicants, agents and third parties, providing advice to the public, preparing both delegated and committee reports and advising the Planning Applications Committee as well as carrying out work in relation to enforcement, reviews and appeals.
You must have a relevant degree and experience of working in development management, preferably in a Scottish rural area, with a good working knowledge of current planning legislation and procedures. You will have a customer-focused attitude and be a skilled negotiator, with a good standard of written and spoken English. You must be able to prioritise and work to deadlines with the minimum of supervision, and work well as part of a team. A current driving licence is essential.
To provide a better work life balance, we offer hybrid working arrangements with opportunities for remote and home working. Although the post is full time, we will consider applications from those wishing to work either part-time or as part of a job share.
