Overview of role:
Aberla Energy is seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our Pre-Construction team in a senior leadership role. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to bring their expertise, leadership, and innovative ideas to help us continue to excel in the renewable energy sector.
As a Senior Solar PV Lead Designer, you will oversee the entire pre-construction phase, taking responsibility for all aspects of Solar PV design activities. Your expertise will guide the team in delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions for both domestic and commercial solar PV installations.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to take full ownership of building and expanding a team, driving the growth of pre-construction solar PV department, with the potential for career progression within the company.
You will join a small team of individuals passionate about renewable energy. You will be responsible for the whole lifecycle of each of your projects from full design through to specification and sign-off of solar PV installations.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the pre-construction phase, ensuring the successful design and planning of both domestic and commercial solar PV installations (roof and ground-mounted).
* Conduct site visits and surveys to assess and evaluate potential installations, ensuring feasibility and compliance with relevant regulations.
* Design and produce detailed solar PV installation plans using design software such as PVsyst, Autocad, and PVSol, including feasibility studies, construction documents, and planning application submissions.
* Collaborate with the operational team to prepare the necessary documentation and support during the construction phase.
* Work closely with District Network Operators (DNOs) and Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) to ensure compliance with connection requirements and processes.
* Report directly to the board of directors, providing regular updates on project progress, risks, and opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience
* Qualifications: Electrical engineering degree or significant experience in solar PV design and installation. (Essential)
* Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the design and specification of domestic and commercial solar PV installations, including ground-mounted and roof-mounted systems. (Essential)
* Design Software Proficiency: Expertise in PV design software, including PVsyst, Autocad, and PVSol. (Essential)
* Knowledge of DNOs: Familiarity with the District Network Operator (DNO) application submission process and design requirements. (Preferable)
* Battery Storage Experience: Knowledge or experience with battery storage facilities. (Preferable)
* Planning Approval: Prior experience in preparing planning approval documentation and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.(Preferable)
