We are seeking a skilled Generator Winder to join our team, supporting power plants across the UK and worldwide. This role involves working with both internal and external customers on generator and exciter installation, inspection, maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs—ranging from minor repairs to full rewinds. You will work on air-cooled, hydrogen-cooled, and water-cooled generators from 2MW to 1800MW, ensuring world-class execution with a strong focus on safety, quality, and budget adherence.
Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, including the ability to read and interpret engineering documents, outage plans, technical instructions, winding diagrams, and engineering drawings. A thorough understanding of generator technology is essential.
Location: UK + Overseas (extensive travel required)
Key Responsibilities:
1. Interpretation of Electrical Winding Diagrams.
2. Understand Winding Processes and Methodology and apply correct solutions on inspections & repairs.
3. Work under strict Foreign Material Exclusion rules.
4. Perform inspections and minor repair works of all types of generator windings.
5. Perform Fault Finding on windings.
6. Assist with Diagnostic tests such as Iron Core Low Flux Tests, Electrical tests, Doppler Flow water Measurements.
7. Strip and Inspect Generator Rotors, clean, repair, and rebuild.
8. Strip and Inspect Generator Stators, clean, repair, and rebuild.
9. Strip and Inspect Generator Exciters, clean, repair, and rebuild.
10. Rewind Generator Stators.
11. Rewind Generator Rotors.
12. Rewind Exciters.
Qualifications & Requirements:
1. Time-served apprenticeship in armature winding of heavy electrical machines.
2. NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Machines or a related field.
3. Extensive experience in brazing techniques.
4. Basic knowledge of electrical testing.
5. Computer literate with proficiency in IT skills.
6. Fluency in English (spoken and written).
7. Willingness and ability to travel extensively across the UK and overseas for projects and field assignments.
Desired Characteristics:

2. Experience and training on Alstom, GE, Siemens, or other OEM equipment (preferred).
