Job Purpose:
As a Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse, you will be pivotal in delivering high-quality mental health care in HMP Swaleside. Your clinical expertise and compassionate care approach will be essential for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for prisoners with varying mental health needs.
What you will do:
1. Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and risk assessments for prisoners.
2. Develop, implement, and review individualised care plans in collaboration with patients and the healthcare team.
3. Deliver evidence-based interventions, including psychological therapies and medication management.
4. Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation strategies, and support for prisoners experiencing acute mental health distress.
5. Administer and monitor prescribed medications, ensuring adherence to prison and NHS policies.
6. Liaise effectively with prison staff, social services, and external healthcare providers.
7. Advocate for service users, promoting recovery-focused and person-centred approaches to care.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with valid NMC registration.
2. Experience working in forensic, custodial, or secure mental health settings.
3. Strong clinical assessment and risk management skills.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Experience in substance misuse, self-harm reduction, or personality disorder management.
6. Training in CBT, DBT, or trauma-informed care.
