The Udny Community Trust Co (UCTC) have transformed “The Medan Centre” in Pitmedden, Aberdeenshire into a vibrant community hub which contains the UCTC office, Cafe48 and multi-purpose rooms. We now have the opportunity to employ an enthusiastic and self-motivated manager to help consolidate the gains we have made regarding community involvement and to fully utilise the Medan Centre. Reporting directly to the Board, this is a stand-alone post where you will play a lead role in looking after the UCTC and the Medan Centre as well as supporting other groups to help deliver a wide variety of projects. This will require you to manage your workload and work effectively to deadlines. Ideally, you will have previous experience of working on community projects, excellent communication and people skills including social media and the ability to organise and promote events and activities that deliver our aims and aspirations. You will have an inclusive approach which will empower people to play an active part. You will also demonstrate financial awareness along with the ability to run a multi-functional building. This role also promotes Health walks and other outdoor activities. You will succeed by working with and drawing on the experience and skills of the local community and relevant agencies to promote partnership working and to develop local groups so that they are self-sustaining. The post is offered, primarily, on a full-time permanent basis, but we may consider two part time posts, with flexible hours to suit both the needs of the Trust and the employee(s). Occasional evening work and weekend work will be required, and access to your own transport would be desirable. Main Purposes of Role The overall aim of this post is to help the board of directors make the Udny Community Trust a well-run company. Play a lead role in supporting community and other groups to deliver a wide variety of projects by using project planning and communications skills. To organise and promote events and activities that deliver the aims and aspirations of the Trust and increase local community involvement and participation. To maintain and develop the facilities at the Medan Centre and our property at 3 Oldmeldrum Road. Act as an ambassador for the Trust ensuring the community’s interests are at the heart of all we do. Core Responsibilities 1. Take responsibility for the security of the Medan Centre and ensure that all maintenance requirements are logged/progressed and deal with on-site contractors. 2. Ensure that all records are properly maintained, controlled and readily available, provide regular clear and informative reports for the board and provide financial information as required. (including monitoring budgets, financial analysis, financial appraisals, budget management and any other ad hoc requests). 3. Take responsibility for the administration and monitoring of UCTC small and large grant applications and encourage and support local applications. 4. Proactively mentor and support community groups, volunteers and others to develop their capabilities and enhance their ability to function successfully and independently. 5. Ensure all OSCR compliance returns are made in a timely manner. 6. Build effective membership and community relationships, seeking to build connections and identify opportunities for sharing knowledge, experience, or resources. 7. Build good and productive working relationships with staff in public service and agencies as well as commercial companies. 8. Raise the public profile of UCT Co Ltd activities through social media platforms and website as required. Be responsible for the updating of website and social media platforms and monitoring google analytics to promote more traffic through these mediums also ensuring all operating licences are kept up to date. (Data protection / domain names etc) 9. Develop sustainable project plans that reflect community need and link to wider strategies and plans, local and national. 10. When required, actively participate in all UCT meetings and other community meetings. 11. Provide project support to director led projects. 12. Contribute to and influence the development of public policy when relevant. 13. Facilitate and/or deliver community events including the Summer Fayre, Christmas lights and conversation cafes amongst others. Comply with safe working practices in accordance with health and safety regulations.
