We have a full-time permanent position for an Occupational Therapist (OT) based within Gardenhill Health Centre with Stewartry Home Team and work as part of the Health & Social Care Partnership.
The OT will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team carrying out patient assessments to help maximise independence and function. The successful candidate will manage a caseload, accepting referrals, signposting and discharging from their caseload. Workload will include blue badge applications, adaptations, using assistive equipment and working with other professionals to achieve the best outcomes for the patient.
You will need undergraduate or post graduate experience working in a team setting with effective communication and computer skills. Sound organisational skills and an understanding of legislation underpinning the provision of services to patients. Therefore, knowledge of recent legislation and local strategies for Health, Housing and Social Work is desirable.
Regular Professional supervision including performance and development reviews will be provided by the Senior Practitioner OT. You must have a recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy and must be registered to practise as an Occupational Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). This post may involve clinic and home visits in remote and rural areas therefore a current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
