Job Advertisement: Full-Time English Teacher – Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) Location: Liverpool Start Date: Spring B Term Contract Type: Full-Time A unique opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and experienced English Teacher to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Liverpool. This role is ideal for a passionate educator who is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of young people who have been permanently excluded from mainstream schools. Role Overview The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering KS4 English in small, focused classes of up to 12 students, supported by a Teaching Assistant. The role also includes: Acting as a Form Tutor, offering pastoral care and building meaningful relationships with students. Leading English interventions to support and enhance individual progress. Delivering PSHE lessons to develop life skills and promote personal growth. Candidate Requirements The ideal candidate will possess: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong background in teaching English at KS4 level. Experience working in a PRU or similar alternative provision, supporting students with complex needs and challenging behavior. Excellent behavior management skills, resilience, and the ability to engage and motivate students. A nurturing and empathetic approach, with the ability to build trust and positive relationships with vulnerable young people. About the Students Students in the PRU have faced significant challenges in mainstream settings and require tailored support to re-engage with education. Many have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and thrive in a structured, supportive, and patient teaching environment.
