Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a substantive Specialty Grade Anaesthetist working across the trust at Wansbeck General Hospital, North Tyneside General Hospital, Hexham General Hospital and The Northumbria Hospital on a full-time basis.
The candidate should have at least three years experience in UK anaesthesia, of which at least 1 year should include obstetric anaesthesia. They will need to have passed the appropriate obstetric competencies as detailed by the RCoA, as the successful candidate will be required to cover labour ward when on call. Previous experience in out of hours on-call in Intensive Care Medicine call is also essential.
The successful candidate will work a resident 8 person full shift system alongside the other trainees in the department and contribute 5 sessions per week. Oncalls will be divided between the obstetric rota and the ICU rota. The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop their special interest to complement the other members of the department and will participate in the provision of Anaesthetic services at all the main hospital sites.

Benefiting from substantial capital investment recently and with a further £50 million of hospital schemes under construction, the Trust’s c.1,000 beds are all in new, attractive low-rise and purpose-built facilities on spacious sites. A further c.300 beds are provided in seven community hospitals.

Minimum Requirements:
1. MBBS or equivalent
2. Full GMC registration
3. Minimum of 2 years’ experience at Foundation level or equivalent.
4. Minimum of 3 years’ previous experience in UK anaesthesia.
