WHAT TO EXPECT:
We are recruiting a manufacturing or production professional as a Tooling Engineer to provide engineering and technical support to the Operations team at Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton.
You will help to develop process improvements, analyse quality issues, understand tooling properties, coordinate technical change and liaise between departments to correctly identify the root cause of an issue and then install a robust countermeasure to ensure the same issue does not occur again. You would need to be able to understand the tools of problem solving and drive resolution.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop within the role as the machining capabilities grow and mature. This is a key position within the machining team and the scope of work will be varied and demanding.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
* Be the primary interface for the Head/Block or Crank team in the resolution of issues derived from tool, process or assembly failures
* Management of multiple machine tools & assembly systems covering a wide range of processes including:
o Various metal cutting processes (e.g. grinding, milling, drilling / reaming, honing, boring, gear cutting etc)
o Various test operations such as balancing, leak testing & in-line gauging
o Various automated and manual assembly operations
o A variety of washing and cleanliness technology for our products
* Defining and delivering of the central metrology systems & line side gauging supporting the product design
* Defining and delivery of the optimised tooling used to generate the product design
* Introducing innovative new technologies into our manufacturing processes to improve safety, productivity, quality & cost metrics
* Dealing with customer issues & non-conformance
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
* Knowledge of high-precision machining processes (particularly milling, drilling, reaming, boring, honing etc) is essential and proven experience of facility installation
* An individual with the capability to combine a short term, pragmatic focus with medium term planning
* A good communicator with the ability to communicate complex ideas
* Good problem-solving skills and an ability to work with multiple sets of data simultaneously
