Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local health and safety regulations, specific to the construction and scaffolding industries.
* Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure adherence to safety standards and legislative requirements.
* Develop and maintain comprehensive safety documentation, including incident reports, risk assessments, and audit findings.
* Ensure OHS Management System is developed and implemented.
* Manage the claim lifecycle related to lost time injuries/illness or modified duties.
* Conduct needs assessment, drive change path for, and obtain ISO45001 certification.
* Identify potential safety hazards and implement proactive measures to mitigate risks across sites.
* Lead investigations for incidents, near-misses, and accidents, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented.
* Provide guidance on the safe use of scaffolding, formwork, and construction equipment, ensuring compliance with best practices and manufacturer recommendations.
* Develop and deliver health and safety training programs for employees, supervisors, and contractors, tailored to scaffolding and formwork operations.
* Promote awareness and accountability through safety meetings, toolbox talks, and ongoing communication.
* Act as a trusted advisor to regional managers, supervisors, and teams on health and safety matters.
* Collaborate with leadership to align safety initiatives with organizational goals and industry standards.
* Support the development and implementation of safety KPIs, monitoring progress and reporting on performance.
What you'll need to be successful:
* Completed post-secondary education, preferably in a related field or in Engineering.
* Occupational Health and Safety Degree, Diploma or Certificate – CRSP would be an asset.
* Construction Safety Officer Certificate or applicable safety certification would be an asset.
* 3 to 5 years of relevant functional experience.
* 2 or more years’ experience influencing team members at all levels of the organization.
* One or more years of travel to Canadian sites will be required; occasional international travel may be required.
* Proficient computer skills and competent with Microsoft Office programs.
* Excellent team building and leadership skills and experience.
* Sound organizational, analytical, judgement and decision-making skills with proven abilities in problem solving.
* Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships.
* Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop actionable strategies.
* Strong oral and written communication skills.
