CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent
DEPARTMENT: Community
HOURS: 37.5 hours per week
SALARY: £44,247 - £52,139 per annum for 37.5 hours per week (Grade CA5a-c depending on experience)
CLOSING DATE: 19 March 2025
Are you passionate about palliative care nursing? Do you thrive on teamwork? Would you enjoy a varied role where you can immediately see the positive difference you make to the people you care for? If you’re answering yes, then St Catherine’s Hospice would love to hear from you.
We’re looking for an experienced, initiative-taking nurse specialist to join our talented team of specialist palliative and end of life care Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS).
Working as part of a supportive and integrated clinical team, covering East Surrey and West Sussex, you will make a difference to local patients and their families by offering expert advice and care seven days a week, including face to face scheduled visits and telephone support, with occasional out of hours visits. Working alongside primary care network colleagues, you will deliver specialist palliative care to people at the end of life, and you’ll have shared clinical responsibility for patients referred to the hospice, supported by our community manager and the medical team.
A confident decision-maker, you’ll have the passion to always improve and advance and be happy to participate in a rota system with your team colleagues to provide 7 days a week cover. This ensures that there is always someone available on our telephone line to support our patients and their families. You’ll also contribute to a positive working environment with an emphasis on teamwork and cooperation.
The CNS role at St Catherine’s aligns with Health Education England’s Advanced Clinical Practice Framework to ensure our underpinning standards are consistent with advanced level practice, including physical assessment and prescribing. However, consideration will be given to applicants with relevant experience who are able to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in these fields or have a commitment to acquiring these skills within an agreed period.
This post is offered on a full-time basis, working hours and pattern to be agreed. You will participate in a rota system providing 7-day per week cover, including Bank Holidays, for our patients and their families, via telephone advice and support, but may include visiting out of hours in exceptional circumstances.
Please note, the successful candidate will be an essential car user, therefore candidates must have a full driving licence and be willing to use their own vehicle for business use.
When you join St Catherine’s, you’ll be joining a supportive team all working towards a big ambition: to help everyone face death informed, supported, and pain-free. If that sounds like something you’d find fulfilling, please apply today.
Employees at St Catherine’s Hospice can enjoy a variety of benefits including:
* 25 days holiday, increasing with length of service to 30 days + public holidays
* Option to buy or sell up to 1 week of annual leave
* Day off for volunteering
* Day off for moving house
