As a result of our clients expansion plans, and continued ongoing success we are seeking a dynamic Technical Writing Assistant to be based at a busy Head Office in Plymouth.

Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for creating instruction manuals for the items we sell. You will work closely with our buying, branding & compliance teams to ensure that our documentation is accurate, engaging & easy to understand, and always meets the needs of our customers.
Evaluate labels, packaging, in conjunction with instruction manuals to ensure accuracy for data, consistency and regulatory markings.
Logging and collating of safety data sheets.
Collaborate with buying, online, customer support teams and external suppliers to gather relevant information.
Prepare documentation and product specifications based on technical information from suppliers.
Monitor & assist on various new product introduction projects and related activities.
Input data for imports, product quality, safety and due diligence documentation as required.
Work on own initiative, adhering to rapidly changing deadlines / timescales
Interpreting & relaying complex information back to colleagues and suppliers.
Processing of technical and other product related data from buyers.
Assist in the creation of training materials and other documentation as needed.
Manage related data input tasks and specification sheet production for exports into EU.
Person Specification:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality documentation.
Experience in user manual writing with an understanding of how to write using instructional language, have an eye for consistency, a basic understanding of design (manipulating images, structuring page layouts), an appreciation of tone and style.
Ability to react swiftly to changing requirements and pressures.
A demonstrable technical experience in chemical, electro-mechanical engineering, hardlines or softlines would be advantageous.
PC literate with experience of working with Microsoft Office packages & a ideally a familiarity with graphic design software.
A keen eye for attention to detail with good lateral, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Wide knowledge & understanding of product groups and manufacturing processes.
Experience & understanding of specifications, drawings and component level problem solving.
You must be comfortable making initial contact with departments & offshore suppliers whilst taking ownership of projects from start to finish.
