Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Educated to degree level or equivalent
* Full registration with GDC
* Registered as a dental specialist with the GDC
* Evidence of further development - education and/or training
Desirable criteria
* Masters level qualification or evidence of training and experience to that level
* Health service management/ leadership qualification
* Postgraduate qualification from a Medical Royal College/Faculty
Experience and Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Significant track record of employment at a senior level in a health related environment
* Well established dental practitioner with considerable dental experience of working in the specialist dental arena since their full registration with the GDC
* Experience of dental management
* Considerable experience in clinical leadership roles
* Experience of working effectively with other stakeholders to improve primary community and secondary care services at a strategic and operational level
* Track record of facilitating change to improve services in clinical practice
* Evidence of leading service change with professional colleagues
* Sound knowledge of clinical governance and effective systems of medical management such as job planning, appraisal and clinical assessment
* Knowledge of the principles of clinical governance and its application across health services
* Understanding of medical/dental recruitment and training matters
* Demonstrable experience of working positively with senior clinicians to achieve improvement to services
* Demonstrate extensive knowledge of the strategic issues facing NHS Wales
Desirable criteria
* Exposure to working at Board level
* Budget management experience
* An understanding of the role of management and clinical contribution to the overall Board agenda.
* An understanding of the principles of public health medicine that are relevant to, and underpin much of the work of the Health Board
* Knowledge of the role and function of a statutory organisation and the principles of corporate governance
* Understanding of Local Authorities, social services and the voluntary sector
