Are you a Podiatrist looking for a new or additional role with career development opportunities? Have you ever thought about working within a prison environment, helping to rehabilitate and support offenders to live purposeful lives as a member of the community?
Prisons are one of the most challenging yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work. If you are looking for a role where you can develop your existing skills and learn something new every day, then this is the place to be!
To ensure the continued quality of care at HMP Bullingdon, HMP Grendon & Springhill, we are looking for a Podiatrist to join our team, working 14 hours a month across these sites. There is no on-call or weekend work to allow for a strong work-life balance!
You will be part of a forward-thinking, innovative health care team, including GPs, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists, and mental health professionals, delivering high quality, best practice treatment. You will also form part of the wider MSK Health in Justice Team comprising of physiotherapists and podiatrists working in 52 prisons across the country. You will be closely supported and mentored by our Team Lead Podiatrist, and this combined with our well-developed appraisal system, in-service training, and funding for external clinical courses, will provide you with an excellent supportive learning environment.
Main duties of the job
HMP Bullingdon in Bicester is a Category B local prison holding both remanded and sentenced prisoners, accommodating male adults from 18+. HMP Grendon in Aylesbury is a Category B adult male prison and is jointly managed with HMP Springhill, which is a Category D adult male prison situated next to one another. This role requires the advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the offender healthcare setting who may have complex and/or chronic presentations. You will need to determine clinical diagnosis and clinical treatment, and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
With this in mind, you will be HCPC registered with post-registration experience assessing and treating a range of conditions including diabetic patients, wound management, MSK pathologies, and nail surgery. You will also be self-motivated with excellent communication and organisational skills.
When you are part of the Practice Plus Group team, you don’t just have a job; you have a career. We work with you to help you grow in your role and take your career in the direction you want to go. We will help you be the best you can be.
