Main Purpose of the role
The strategic sales leader of the hotel and golf club’s commercial function, proactively driving the sales and marketing of all facilities, outlets, and room segments in collaboration with the General Manager. The role’s core focus is the development and management of local and national corporate accounts, maximising social banqueting, meetings and events (M&E) business, generating residential conference demand, and driving golf club revenue.
This position plays a key role in delivering net operating profit and sits on the hotel’s Senior Leadership Team, working closely with the General Manager, property owners, and the wider Legacy Leadership Team.
The Director of Sales assumes full accountability for the marketing strategy and its implementation, including the management of third-party agencies where required.
Key Measurements
* Develop, agree and implement a comprehensive hotel commercial strategy, including an annual sales plan and a digital/social media marketing strategy
* Set and manage new business acquisition and account retention targets for self and team
* Stay current on industry trends and local economic activity, ensuring insights are shared across relevant teams
* Lead proactive sales efforts and support the reactive sales team to maximise profitable conversion
* Own the RFP process, from lead qualification through to conversion and delivery
* Implement and manage a robust sales tracking system across all key segments: corporate, M&E, and golf
* Manage all corporate, M&E, and golf-related communications across email, direct mail, and social media platforms
* Maintain and grow relationships with key business travel agencies and hotel booking partners
* Identify and capitalise on new sales and marketing opportunities across all segments
* Attend Business Reviews, Commercial Reviews, and Legacy/Mokan meetings as required
* Maintain the company CRM system and utilise social selling tools to enhance brand visibility and engagement
* Deliver business revenue in line with pricing policies and budgeted HOP targets
* Drive growth within corporate, M&E, and golf segments
* Lead, coach, and develop the hotel sales team to exceed key performance indicators and targets
* Take full ownership of day-to-day and strategic leadership of the sales team
* Maintain strong awareness of other properties in the portfolio and stay updated on developments
* Foster collaboration with Senior Sales Managers across the portfolio to coordinate efforts and share leads
Essential candidate criteria
* Outstanding communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
* Proven ability to influence key stakeholders, including clients, agents, GMs, owners, and senior leadership
* Deep understanding of all market segments and associated sales opportunities
* Demonstrated success in developing and executing sales and marketing strategies
* Proficiency with key social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook
* Strong customer relationship management skills with a focus on long-term engagement and retention
* Knowledge of revenue management principles, account profitability, and RFP systems
* Strong decision-making, organisational, and leadership abilities
* Solid financial acumen with a track record of delivering against commercial targets
