Job Description
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Thermal, you will be responsible for defining qualification obligations for the assurance hold points during build, test and commissioning, and providing assurance to the Design Authority as to the adequacy and robustness of the Safety Case and supporting documentation. You will also identify and close issues emerging from product lifecycle stages and manage the resulting change embodiment activities.
* Develop thermal models to predict product performance under various operating conditions.
* Collaborate with electrical, mechanical and systems engineers to optimize the thermal design of radar components and subsystems.
* Undertake peer reviews or checking/verification of tasks as directed.
* Identify and address any thermal-related issues that may impact product performance or safety.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will require a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and/or proven experience. A strong understanding of heat transfer principles, fluid mechanics and thermodynamics is essential.

The Mechanical Engineering Radar Team
The Mechanical Engineering Radar team provides engineering management support as part of a team delivering capability upgrades to the Royal Navy over the next 10 years. This role will provide you with significant exposure inside the larger BAE Systems organisation.
