ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGIST
We are looking for an experienced Architectural Technologist to join our Devon-based practice and work on a number of luxury hotel projects. The role is studio-based (in Dartington, Devon). This is a full-time position.
ABOUT SIBLEY GROVE
Sibley Grove is an interior design & architecture studio based in Devon. The studio was founded in 2010 by husband-and-wife team Kate Sibley (Creative Director) and Jeremy Grove (Head of Interior Design). We remain a family-run business, with Tim Grove (Head of Architectural Design) joining as a director in 2022. The studio’s ethos draws inspiration from the natural world where waste is a resource with its own inherent value as a system of natural circular regeneration. As designers and architects, we employ a systems-thinking approach, drawing on both creative and technical disciplines to design projects that have both an aesthetic beauty and practical use. Our work can be found across the UK and overseas. We are best-known for delivering ambitious, bespoke luxury hotel and retail projects for discerning clients and for our award-winning ‘Design for Disassembly’ process.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is based at our studio in Dartington, Devon and you will be expected to work there. This is a full-time position. Benefits include 28 days of holiday (plus bank holidays). To enquire about salary expectations or for any other questions before you apply, email studio@sibleygrove.com.
In this role you will be expected to:
1. Design layouts in AutoCAD.
2. Work in AutoCAD to produce various drawings to a high standard, including:
1. Planning drawings
2. Technical drawings for construction
3. Detailed shop drawings
3. Run small projects independently and work as part of a team on larger projects.
4. Identify, instruct and organise necessary surveys as part of the planning process.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
1. A minimum of five years’ experience as an Architectural Technologist.
2. High levels of proficiency working with AutoCAD.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of the planning process.
4. A strong understanding of how buildings go together.
5. Joinery and furniture experience.
6. Site experience.
7. Creative approach to design.
8. Strong technical ability.
DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
1. Chartered as an Architectural Technologist.
2. Knowledge of BIM.
3. Previous experience with hotel and retail projects.
4. Experience of dealing with a local authority on planning issues.
5. An interest in the principles of sustainable design and the circular economy.
