About The Role A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Strategic Supplier Engagement (SSE) Manager to join us on a Full Time, Permanent basis You will be an integral part of the Supplier Engagement team primarily focused on ensuring we better leverage supplier relationships to support our strategic objectives and become a ‘Client of choice’. You will play an active role within our Supplier Engagement Programme by managing the overall relationship with a portfolio of strategic suppliers, whilst continually refining the processes. Working with category managers and business unit leads to drive engagement, deliver initiatives, and innovations on behalf of the Group with the primary aim of creating enduring supply chain partnerships. What You'll Do Execute the National Grid Supplier Relationship Management strategy in partnership with executive sponsors, strategic business partners, category teams and business unit leads. Drive the engagement, and delivery of collaborative initiatives with identified suppliers and relevant stakeholders from across the National Grid Group. Coordinate and facilitate stakeholder engagements (e.g., forums, workshops) with strategic suppliers across business units and category teams. Lead the development of comprehensive supplier strategies, including understanding and consolidating the perspectives from other teams in Procurement, and our wider business. (e.g., Sustainability, Supply Chain Risk) and aligning with business priorities. Work with Head of Supplier Engagement to maintain oversight of National Grid's existing supplier base and engage with Market Supplier Development to guide efforts to access new markets/suppliers. Actively contribute to our periodic supplier segmentation, using your attained knowledge and understanding of the suppliers within your portfolio. Contribute to 'Voice of the Supplier' surveys, generate insight and use as the basis for appropriate action planning to continuously improve the perception of National Grid in the market with the goal of becoming a ‘Client of Choice’. Develop and manage 1 or 2 direct reports to be a highly motivated, innovative, and value-focused team. About You Proficiency within stakeholder and supplier management skills with the ability to influence at all levels, both internally and externally. Proven knowledge of commercial models and techniques. Proven negotiation skills with a comprehensive knowledge of contracts and experience of managing procurement activities and delivering procurement value. Ability to analyse KPIs and contract data, with strong attention to detail. Work with ambiguity and the corresponding ability to make decisions or recommendations on incomplete information. Manage programmes of work with high numbers of stakeholder interfaces to drive for results.
