We are searching for a caring, compassionate and dedicated Children's Support Worker to support children who have been through, witnessed and survived domestic and sexual abuse - based in the Swansea area.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A TEMPORARY / FIXED TERM ROLE UNTIL MARCH 31st 2025 - EXTENSION BEYOND THIS DATE WILL DEPEND ON FUNDING
What are the details?
Work for an incredible charity focused on supporting people who have experienced domestic violence
Full time hours - 35 per week
Monday to Friday
9am to 4.30pm - with a 30 min break each day
Working across schools in the Swansea area
Salary starts at £23,208
Equivalent to £12.75 per hour
Hourly rate is negotiable for the right person
Contract until 31st March 2025
Extention past this date will depend on funding
What will you do?
Work within the school environment, supporting children who have experienced domestic violence
Carry a caseload of 10 children at a time
1-2-1 support with children referred in to the service
Deliver a 6 week programme, covering wellbeing, healthy relationships, safety and more
Refer to other agencies and specialist services
Complete a support / work plan for each individual
Contact with school staff and parents
Extend support where needed
Build an excellent relationships with the schools
Complete risk assessments
What do we need?
The charity will consider anyone who has worked with children
You could come from education, support work, youth work, residential children's care etc.
We need someone who has worked with young people below the age of 16
Ideally supported children from 5 to 13 years old
A solid understanding of safeguarding, multi-agency working and professional boundaries
Compassion, empathy and patience is essential
The ability to connect with, and win the trust of vulnerable children
An understanding of the effects of domestic violence would be ideal
A DBS ON THE UPDATE SERVICE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE
A DRIVER IS IDEAL BUT WILL CONSIDER NON-DRIVERS
