The Actuarial team provides a broad range of actuarial and defined benefits pension consultancy services to pension scheme trustees, scheme sponsors, and other third parties. The team also offers non-pensions actuarial analysis and advice to other parts of the firm. The role involves working collaboratively with colleagues in Investment Management, Broadstone, and other third parties.
Responsibilities may include:
1. Reviewing data prepared by colleagues or third parties
2. Preparing and reviewing calculations, letters, and reports for senior review
3. Supporting the development of less experienced colleagues
4. Assisting in client account management to develop interpersonal skills
Key Accountabilities
1. Liaising with Investment Management, Broadstone, external administrators, and clients
2. Attending external meetings with senior colleagues
3. Communicating directly with clients via email or phone
4. Ensuring work complies with Broadstone standards
5. Reviewing data preparation and resolving discrepancies
6. Performing technical calculations related to pension scheme members, retirements, trivial commutations, and transfer values
7. Conducting actuarial valuations and preparing disclosures under FRS 102, IAS 19R, ASC 715, or US GAAP
8. Suggesting improvements to operational practices
Technical Knowledge and Professional Qualifications
1. Passing several actuarial exams, nearing FIA or FFA qualification
2. Demonstrating aptitude for progressing with actuarial exams
3. Having working knowledge of actuarial valuations and accounting disclosures under relevant standards
