The Role
As a HR and Payroll Assistant with XPS you will:
* Ensure all HR/payroll related data, including new starters, transfers, leavers, Family Friendly Leave, absences, and other payroll-related tasks are accurately input in line with the payroll timetable.
* Act as the first point of contact for all HR and Payroll queries received via the HR Service portal, responding to or escalating queries as appropriate.
* Maintain accurate records for pension contributions, season ticket loans, and flexible benefits.
* Prepare communication for employees enrolled in our pension scheme.
* Check and transfer funds/refunds to relevant pension schemes monthly.
* Process payroll reports and any ad hoc reports as required.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of current practices and processes.
* Liaise with the company's outsourced payroll provider and escalate unresolved queries.
* Ensure all payroll data is checked, validated, and signed off prior to finalising the payroll each month.
* Complete external survey requirements in accordance with GDPR principles.
* Support the Payroll Manager in delivering the monthly payroll process.
Your Profile
Essential Criteria
* Minimum Grade 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
* Previous experience within a payroll team.
* IT literate, with proficiency in MS Office (particularly Excel).
* Highly organised with strong planning skills.
* Able to work effectively under pressure to tight deadlines.
* Ability to follow processes and procedures.
* Maintain confidentiality and integrity at all times.
* Flexible and willing to learn new skills.
Desirable Criteria
* Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
* Willing to obtain CIPD level 3 or equivalent CIPP qualification.
* Enthusiasm to develop and improve the service provided.
