The Neonatal Service has vacancies for Band 5 registered nurses that have experience in the care of the preterm and sick infant.
You will be reliable, flexible, motivated and have a commitment to delivering high quality care to babies and families. The Neonatal Unit at Royal Lancaster Infirmary is a 10 bedded Level 2 unit which includes 1 intensive care cot, 2 High Dependency cot and 7 Special care cots providing care for babies from 28 weeks gestation. Infants with gestation lower than 27 weeks are transferred to a tertiary facility via a dedicated Network Transfer Team.

The Neonatal team is supported by a specialist neonatal educator and a comprehensive induction package is provided to all new staff. Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery.

Education and Qualifications
* Registered Children’s Nurse or Registered midwife or Registered Nurse
* Qualification in Speciality
* Newborn Life support
Experience
* Relevant pre-registration experience of working with babies and children.
* Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team
* Experience of establishing effective communication
Skills ability and Knowledge
* Demonstrable appropriate skills in nursing for babies and children
* Basic life support skills
* Able to respond rapidly to emergency situations
* Able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care
* Able to work as an effective team member
* Able to prioritise and manage time effectively.
* Able to maintain accurate documentation
* Basic IT skills
* Willingness to advance competencies

* Effective verbal and written communication skills
