Job overview: To support the manufacturing of the companys existing and new product ranges and to support a successful LEAN Manufacturing culture, focusing on continual improvement and elimination/reduction of wastes by educating the business and removing non-value-added waste from business processes. Develops, implements, and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies. Interfaces with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products. Utilises NPI process standards to mitigate risks and ensure suitability of changes to existing and new product introductions. Makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations. Technical link for production areas to ensure appropriate manufacture of business requirements. Responsibilities Define and implement production BOMs and processes to support manufacturing requirements. Identify technical issues and assist in defining root cause. Communicate issues clearly (both written and verbally) in a timely manner. Creates and maintains manufacturing method sheets / work instructions and routings as required. Support the transfer of processes, process improvements, and products from development to production. Work with minimum supervision in a technically intensive environment. Assume ownership of production downtime recording and reporting activities. As required, assists in the planning and execution of product reliability activities. May be asked to support additional projects in development as appropriate. Facilitates engineering changes both in technical supporting information as well as managing their full implementation internally, including work instructions, check sheets and test documentation. Work with SQE and Procurement on supplier issues. Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business. Prior clean room experience desirable. Development of Jigs and fixtures Experience of assembly processes including UHV and high voltage systems within in a high Tech / low volume manufacturing environment. Able to diagnose manufacturing and design faults during assembly activities. Minimum of 3 years recent experience in a similar role with a good understanding of best industry practice. Strong organisational skills including planning, time-management, and prioritising. Design and manufacture of Production assembly and test tooling. Able to integrate into existing team, supporting, and assisting colleagues. Ability to perform effectively across multiple projects. Experience of working independently and as part of a multi-skilled team. Methodical approach to problem solving. Quick learner. Ability to meet the travel requirements of the post. Qualifications Knowledge of waste reduction activities in a manufacturing environment. LEAN / 6 sigma tools desirable. Experience in process planning Expereince liaising with suppliers. Computer literate. Knowledge of 3D CAD use desirable. - A Level standard. Minimum of HND/HNC in an engineering or scientific discipline and/or suitable work experience. Understanding and experience of VSM (Value Stream Mapping) processes. Demonstrated knowledge of engineering techniques and active desire to keep technically up to date.
