About the Role: Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create essential research for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A Director Analyst serves as a leader within Gartner’s Research and Advisory sector, establishing credibility by supporting CIOs at local, regional, and global levels. Utilizing exceptional research and analytical skills, a Director Analyst produces pragmatic and provocative research that Gartner clients consume to propel their business toward key objectives. They are a trusted source of advice for clients, reinforcing Gartner’s value through personal interactions, virtual meetings, extended briefings, short advisory engagements, webinars, and Gartner conferences. In these engagements, the Director Analyst will discuss complex client challenges, demonstrate mastery of their research space, and offer appropriate, actionable recommendations. What You Will Do: Research and Content Development: Generate new research ideas and thought leadership, providing compelling and actionable approaches to clients' needs that drive their strategic initiatives. Conduct comprehensive research and analysis in various technology domains relevant to CIOs, including IT Strategy, IT Organizational Design, Infrastructure & Operations (I&O), Applications (Apps), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Security. Craft high-quality, clear, and actionable advisory research documents. Client Engagement: Provide clients and prospects with actionable advice aligned to their designated content area via virtual or face-to-face interactions. Develop in-depth analysis to identify the root cause of a client’s barriers or overall needs and reframe thinking to drive strategy forward. Create and deliver high-value presentation materials for Gartner events, industry and professional association conferences, and client briefings. Proactively work with the wider sales organization and deliver outstanding sales support to retain and grow the business. Thought Leadership and Collaboration: Demonstrate thought leadership in establishing research positions across a team of analysts. Bring provocative, independent insights to Gartner leaders that can evolve the course of a research agenda. Actively participate in innovation, ideation, and research discussions and collaborate effectively with peers in the research community. Provide high-quality and timely research content peer review. Mentorship and Team Support: Be a mentor and a coach by supporting more junior team members. Identify research process improvements or develop new processes that help the team and Research & Advisory provide excellent service delivery. What You Will Need: Educational and Professional Background: 12 years of relevant field or industry experience, preferably with experience in an IT/Technology Department. Experience in a leadership position in an IT organization, at a vendor, or as a consultant is highly desirable. Skills and Competencies: Specific Position Requirements: Working knowledge and experience in three or more of the following areas (the more, the better): Development of Strategies, Strategic Plans, and Operational planning. Best practices in organizational design and various new and emerging teaming conventions, such as centers of excellence, fusion teams, product teams, self-managing teams, etc. Oversight of applications and software portfolios. Supporting data and analytics initiatives. Building technology foundations for AI. Overseeing I&O and cloud platforms. Supporting cybersecurity efforts. Investing in emerging technologies. A willingness and curiosity to build topical knowledge depth and experience in other areas listed above. Leadership and Expertise: Ability to effectively bridge technology and leadership concerns, adapting seamlessly to diverse environments. Possess a comprehensive understanding of organizational technology, with the ability to integrate various technological components into a cohesive strategy. Can immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders. Comfortable presenting at large and small-scale speaking engagements, with a strong grasp of CIO leadership concepts applicable to information technology issues in a large enterprise environment. Communication and Analytical Skills: Able to explain complex concepts concisely and simply. Demonstrate excellence in research and writing ability. Proficient in analyzing and synthesizing data; can effectively apply patterns and frameworks while drawing and defending conclusions to client challenges. Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions. Organizational and Collaborative Skills: Ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high-quality deliverables. Possess a collaborative mindset with a deep understanding of the CIO role and their unique challenges. Ability to work independently, while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others, in a multicultural global team.
