Chief Economist and Director of Analysis
The Company is seeking a Chief Economist and Director of Analysis to serve as the lead economic adviser on all aspects of the UK's foreign and international development policy. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic and high-quality economic advice to Ministers and senior officials, leading a large team of analytical professionals, and promoting the use of evidence-based policymaking. This role requires a proven thought leader in the field of economics, with a minimum of a master's degree in economics and advanced knowledge in international macroeconomics and development economics. The Chief Economist will also be involved in economic diplomacy, working with international partners to influence policy choices based on the latest data and analysis.
Candidates for this role must have a strong background in technical knowledge, the use of analysis in policymaking, and excellent communication skills. Leadership experience is essential, as the role involves managing a diverse team and inspiring the wider analytical community. The ideal candidate will have a track record of building successful relationships with a complex set of stakeholders and be adept at working with multidisciplinary teams. While not essential, experience in managing public money and budgets is desirable. The Chief Economist will be expected to be a champion of diversity and inclusion, and to lead with a focus on innovation, agility, and a long-term, transparent approach to decision-making.
