This role is also built around a fully flexible working directive, between remote / home and office work.
Reports to: General Counsel
As Legal Counsel, you will drive compliance strategy, regulatory adherence, and risk management across the business. You’ll oversee commercial legal matters, regulatory reporting, and compliance initiatives while fostering a strong compliance culture. The role is based in Edinburgh with occasional UK travel.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead compliance functions and ensure GDPR and UK Bribery Act adherence.
* Develop policies, train employees, and enhance compliance programs.
* Review, negotiate, and draft commercial contracts.
* Conduct compliance audits on anti-bribery, modern slavery, competition law, and marketing codes.
* Keep leadership informed on compliance updates.
* Stay updated on legal and regulatory changes affecting the business.
What We Look For
Skills & Knowledge
* Expertise in regulated business compliance, licensing, and utilities regulations.
* Strong commercial and technological awareness.
* Excellent organization and attention to detail.
Experience & Qualifications
* 4+ years PQE in compliance and legal roles.
* Qualified in Common Law (English and Welsh law) (preferred).
* Strong written, verbal, and problem-solving skills.
* Resilient, self-motivated, and adaptable to complex workloads.
* Understanding of renewable energy challenges within the UK.
