We have an exciting and challenging post within our small, enthusiastic Health Improvement Team which encompass: taking forward a programme of generic Public Health / Health Improvement work to support NHS Highland to deliver on national and local targets and priorities with a particular focus on smoking cessation but also working on alcohol, mental health, suicide reduction and staff health and wellbeing.
Working collaboratively across all parts of NHS Highland’s organisational structure and partner agencies, this post will operate within Skye, Lochalsh and Wester Ross, with service provided by face to face, email and online contact. There will also be Health Improvement/promotion activities within Skye, Lochalsh and Wester Ross e.g Health and wellbeing campaigns and education activities
You will have a firm understanding of the principles and practice of Public Health/Health Improvement and preferably have health improvement/public health experience; the use of data for assessing need and communicating messages about health; and working with delivery partners and communities. Knowledge of the current context of this agenda, including key national policy drivers and national and local priorities for tackling inequality and promoting health would be advantageous. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and be competent in delivering training. You will be knowledgeable of the effects that inequalities have on health and the causes of health inequalities.
You will have a SVQ level 4 or above or similar, related health or social care qualification.
