About this opportunity:
Cumberland Council is seeking to appoint a Senior Team Lead to provide strategic and technical leadership to the Flood and Coastal Risk management team. This important post will manage complex projects across the council which will involve collaborating with major stakeholders to deliver exceptional results.
The role will lead the team to fulfil the Council’s statutory flood and coastal risk management responsibilities. This includes Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) duties; Coast Protection Authority (CPA) duties. The team is responsible for the delivery of the Flood and Coastal Risk Management capital works programme. The team is also responsible for ordinary watercourse consenting activities and undertaking flood investigations.
Key responsibilities:
* To lead and manage the flood and coastal risk management team.
* Manage project budgets and resources to ensure successful outcomes.
* Foster and innovate improvements across the department.
* Lead on all compliance activity.
* Engage with relevant key stakeholders to ensure collaborative approach and effective results.
Who we’re looking for:
Are you an experienced leader who has a proven track record of managing teams that deliver projects on time and within budget? Your leadership and technical knowledge will help the team overcome challenges and deliver great outcomes for the council.
We are looking for an experienced leader who has a proven track record of managing a team, projects, programmes, consultants and contractors. This should include commercial, schedule and delivery oversight; experience of multi-agency working, working in partnerships, and with other professional partners, in supporting the delivery of flood and coastal risk management projects; experience of leading working groups and chairing meetings.
You will also have an understanding of the funding mechanisms available to public sector organisations, such as DEFRA’s Flood Defence Grant-in-Aid, and experience of preparing and submitting successful funding bids.
You will have a good understanding of the mechanisms that drive flooding and coastal erosion processes. You will have a track record within the coastal, flooding, or civil engineering.
