Qualified kaiako/teacher working with tamariki U2s
Busy C's Preschool in Lyttelton is seeking a wonderful and nurturing kaiako who loves working with our younger tamariki. Someone with experience, passion, and humour - who shares our values and aspirations (see our Philosophy attached).
Busy C's is a small integrated whānau-oriented Enviroschool preschool, supported by a team of 100% qualified Early Childhood Education professionals. We are based in the heart of Lyttelton, nurturing and educating tamariki from six months to six years. We are licensed for 30 tamariki, with a maximum of 9 in our Under Two area.
Our programme is tamariki-led/play-based, inspired by the interests of the tamariki and our learning community. We aim to foster the joy of an enquiring mind - supporting learning and development with rich relationships and meaningful learning experiences.
We value the concept of ako - learning from each other - and enjoy respectful reciprocal relationships with our tamariki, whānau, learning community, and environment. We have a strong bi-cultural focus, while supporting a range of cultures represented in our community.
We have a Primary-kaiako philosophy where each kaiako is responsible for individual tamariki within a larger group - and work with whānau to plan and support their child's learning. We value clear evidence-based documentation and use the Educa online programme in conjunction with Individual Profile books to provide a record of each child's learning journey.
The applicant would be a reflective kaiako with an ongoing interest in professional development. They would be committed to contributing to the centre’s Internal Evaluations, have good time management, and enjoy working with our supportive team of qualified early childhood professionals.
Full-time position is based on 4.5 days/week, with some flexibility.
Applicants must be NZ residents or have a current working visa and reside in Aotearoa/NZ.
We would consider a centre-based kaiako/teacher in training.
