The Role
We are seeking experienced quality inspectors for Aerospace manufacturing, with the ability to inspect parts efficiently and accurately to achieve customer specifications and on-time delivery targets.
Working Hours
* 39 hours per week on a day shift over 4.5 days (early finish on a Friday)
* Potential for overtime on weekends or night shifts.
The job is not deemed physically demanding, although all employees are required to undertake occupational health surveillance and periodic health assessments may be performed as necessary.
Duties and responsibilities
The main role is to inspect machined and fabricated components against technical drawings and BOM to ensure conformity of staged parts and finished components in accordance with customer and industry specification.
General Inspection Knowledge to include:
* Conducting first off, stage and final inspection operations to ensure conforming products.
* Recording internal non-conformances and assisting with root cause analysis and action.
* Knowledge of geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing.
* Capable of reading and interpreting engineering drawings
* Working to AS9100 / CAA Part 21 (G) standards (ideal).
* Conversant with fabrication, welding, and CNC machine activities within a production environment
* Be able to resolve dimensional issues and put corrective actions in place.
* Knowledge of operating CMM to verify the dimensional accuracy of components. Ability to program parts on CMM (ideal).
* Excellent IT skill to ensure accurate recording of inspection results.
* Support the wider team with investigations of non-conformances and developing preventive actions.
Qualifications & Experience
In addition to experience of working to Aerospace manufacturing standards, the minimum expected qualifications and experience required to successfully perform the job are:
* Engineering qualification or apprenticeship
* Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Quality Inspector in Aerospace or Automotive manufacturing
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
* Experience of CAM and ability to communicate technical data and specifications
* Familiar with working to tight tolerances within Aerospace or similar environment
* Experience of certification of Aerospace parts
* Qualified and experienced CMM operator would be beneficial
* Desirable experience includes initiation of FAIR’s, CMM operation, knowledge and implementation of lean principles, conversant with NADCAP standards and special processes, and auditing to AS9100/CAA Part 21 (G) standards
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
* Attention to detail and a “can-do” attitude
* Ability to work in a team and independently
* Ability to use own initiative
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £31,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
