An exciting opportunity has arisen for a temporary Band 7 Sister / Charge Nurse post within Paediatric Critical Care at the Sheffield Children's Hospital. This post is from start date to 24th August 2025.
The successful candidate will be expected to effectively manage a number of staff for any given shift, incorporating our trust values, as a role model for all staff. Expert communication with families and the multidisciplinary team is essential. Experience in other aspects of Nurse Management would ideally include sickness management, appraisals, conflict management and resolution, training and experience in performing interviews and education. Some experience in Research and Audit is desirable.
Main duties of the job
We are offering the successful candidate integration into a highly motivated, professional management team, within a specialist Children's Hospital, offering expert service to South Yorkshire and beyond. Sheffield Children's Hospital hosts Embrace, the only Paediatric/Neonatal transport service within the British Isles and PCCU work closely with this team.
We have an excellent education programme with a dedicated team offering development opportunities for all levels of staff. Our team have formulated a traffic light system supporting staff from induction onwards, instilling competence and confidence in the provision of best practice of care for our patients.

Qualifications
* RSCN/RN Child
* ENB 415 or equivalent
* APLS provider
* ENB. 998 or equivalent
* Degree in relevant subject
Experience
* Five years recent Paediatric Intensive Care experience, of which; Significant experience is in the management of Paediatric Critical Care area as Shift Co-ordinator/Junior Sister/Charge Nurse
* Teaching and mentorship
* Basic management course
* Substantial experience of managing a Paediatric Intensive Care/High Dependency Unit (PCCU)
* Line management
* Significant experience in change management
* Success in working collaboratively across professions and services
* Ability to lead and empower others
* Ability to operationally manage the PCCU service and contribute to overall strategy for the service
