Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join the Theatres and Anaesthesia division as part of our team of pre-assessment nurses. This role will require focused assessment and patient communication skills, as well as the ability to work with a broad range of healthcare professionals to ensure patients are optimised prior to their surgical procedure.
They will also be expected to work according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines and take responsibility for:
1. Protecting and supporting the health of individual patients and clients
2. Assessment of care and health education needs
3. Development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care including discharge planning for each patient
There is also an expectation for the successful candidate to demonstrate leadership and management skills in taking charge of the ward/department in the absence of the person holding continuous responsibility, and in acting as a facilitator/mentor/preceptor to all learners.
