XPS Group is a leading UK consulting and administration business specialising in the pensions and insurance sectors. Our Pensions Advisory business continues to grow and we are now looking for an experienced Actuarial Assistant to join our vibrant Belfast office with hybrid working. This is an exciting role and would most likely suit someone with previous pensions valuation experience.
The Role
As a Pensions Actuarial Assistant (Insurance Pricing) with XPS you will:
1. Carry out cashflow valuations of funds considering buyout/buy-in insurance contracts.
2. Be involved in data and actuarial bases preparation using in-house standard approaches and the use of (MS-based) in-house developed software.
3. Produce complex actuarial models and calculations (Individual benefit and transfer value calculations).
4. Develop a basic understanding of relevant technical issues, including scheme documentation, the supporting regulatory framework as well as TASs and Codes of Practice.
5. Report to the team leader where tight deadlines and/or budgets have been imposed.
6. Prioritise and plan personal workflow.
Your profile
Essential Criteria
1. Previous experience in pensions valuations is required.
2. Strong IT skills, expertise in MS Excel is essential.
3. Good analytical skills and ability to work through tasks in a logical manner.
4. A keen interest in actuarial concepts.
5. A high level of numeracy.
6. Ability to work well under time pressure and communicate findings with clarity.
7. An inquisitive and analytical mind.
8. Outstanding accuracy and attention to detail.
9. Excellent written and verbal communication.
10. Highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively.
11. Broad understanding of how the UK pensions schemes operate, with an understanding of the UK Pensions Act.
