The Intensive Support Team (IST) is a service designed to support individuals with a learning disability who are struggling with mental health crisis and/or behavioural distress which is placing them at risk of admission to hospital. The team is expected to meet the holistic needs of service users and carers, avoiding hospital admission where possible. There are three locality arms of the team (Spokes), who work in partnership with local service users and key agencies providing vital support in helping people remain safe in the community.
The IST also offers support to those admitted to hospital, working in conjunction with other learning disability teams, leading on formulation, training, and advising on any reasonable adjustments that the person might require during their stay.
The post holder will be expected to work as part of the IST leadership group in conjunction with other senior professionals in the team providing a Clinical Psychology Service. This includes the provision of enhanced specialist psychological assessment and therapy, working within the policies, procedures, and protocols applicable to the service. Offering advice and consultation on individuals’ psychological needs, developing detailed formulations incorporating a psychological framework to colleagues and to other, non-professional carers.

The bonus is only available for people who are not currently employed (or who have not been employed in the last 12 months) by any NHS provider trust in the Lancashire & South Cumbria Integrated Care System in a like-for-like role; e.g. a Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse at another Trust in the LSC ICS would not be eligible for the bonus if moving to a Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse role at LSCFT. Bank only workers for Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust are eligible for the scheme if they have not held a substantive role in Lancashire & South Cumbria Integrated Care System in the last 12 months (subject to all other terms and conditions being met). These incentives are subject to recovery clauses within the first 6 months of employment. This bonus is applicable from 1st July 2024 – 31st October 2024.
The £7k Welcome Bonus package is designed to attract and retain the very best staff in post. The amount a new starter would receive is shown in the Welcome Bonus Payment Schedule below:
• £3,000 after 2 months of employment (counted from start date with LSCft)
• £2,000 after 12 months
• £2,000 after 24 months
PLEASE NOTE: This bonus scheme is subject to a Repayment Clause should the post holder leave this role within 6 months of commencing employment.
